Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all aspects of oil and gas revenue accounting and oversight of royalty revenue into the MineralWare Mineral Management Software to include; maintaining the integrity of the MineralWare Mineral Management Software and various reports and audits within the system; reporting royalty split to Business Office, estimating monthly and year-end accruals for the Business Office, and closing out royalty for the month
  • Approve all royalty checks from the lockbox and save copies by payor and date. Request the check detail from Energylink or the payor if it is not included.
  • necessary reports and documentation to complete files
  • Approve mineral ad valorem tax payments for mineral assets located in Texas and any other State needed.
  • Compile the data and support needed for the Colorado Tax return and send to the Business Office annually
  • Prepare mineral reports accurately and timely and assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual reports
  • Obtain from Texas Railroad Commission records, sales information necessary to verify accuracy of royalty payments received from operators on the Rocker b Ranch and General Endowment; generate computer reports and review information from revenue system detail to confirm accuracy of payments received
  • Review unpaid Division Orders and contact payors to confirm payment and request any necessary updates.
  • Audit for prompt and accurate payments of all revenue, i.e. royalty revenue, lease bonuses, royalty, shut-in royalty, salt water disposal, etc.
  • For the Blakley Endowment Fund; responsible for oil & gas revenue and production audits to identify potential missing revenue (minimum of two in-depth audits annually and numerous routine monthly audits)
  • Responsible for all monthly and quarterly reports of oil and gas revenue and production
  • Audits oil and gas revenue weekly to identify any ineligible deductions. Determines which deductions require further review and retrieves the associated contracts to be reviewed by the Petroleum Landman. Design and implement audit processes and procedures for General Endowment mineral assets
  • Responsibilities also include working with Department Director in budget planning and projections
  • Assist with generating annual rental invoices on a monthly basis.
  • Communicate effectively by telephone and letters with oil and gas operators in obtaining necessary reports and documentation to complete files'

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Associate's degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5-7 years of oil and gas accounting experience required.
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Must have strong oil and gas background and attention to detail
  • Proficient Excel skills required, including pivot tables, lookups, and reconciling data across multiple spreadsheets and reports.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand royalty check detail and underlying calculation components required.
  • Familiarity with third-party industry resources preferred but not required, including MineralWare, EnergyLink, and Texas Railroad Commission data.
