This will be accomplished through design, fabrication, testing and maintenance of heat exchangers and related process equipment. Metalforms was recently acquired by the TransTech Group, a leading provider of custom-engineered and fabricated solutions for liquids and gas processing, storage, transfer, and utilization across a broad range of industries including energy, petrochemical, specialty chemical, renewables, biofuels, and a variety of industrial process industries.

Job Summary

The Project Buyer is responsible for the procurement of materials and services required to execute customer projects on time, on budget, and in accordance with engineering, ASME Code, customer, and quality requirements. This position ensures material availability supports production schedules while continuously improving supplier performance, reducing total cost of ownership, minimizing supply chain risk, and maintaining compliance with applicable ASME quality and material traceability requirements.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Review project documentation, BOMs, specifications, and schedules.
  • Source and procure raw materials, fabricated components, and outside services.
  • Negotiate pricing and lead times
  • Maintain ERP purchasing data and complete procurement documentation.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Project Management, Production, Quality, and Accounting.
  • Develop alternate suppliers to reduce cost and supply risk.
  • Support inventory optimization and strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Support continuous improvement projects and standardization initiatives.
Decision-Making Authority
  • Select approved suppliers within company policy.
  • Recommend new suppliers for qualification.
  • Negotiate commercial terms within delegated authority.
  • Escalate significant commercial, quality, or schedule risks.
How Success is Measured
  • 95%+ on-time purchase order placement
  • Material cost at or below estimate
  • Less than 1 purchasing error per 100 purchase orders
  • Expedite costs minimized
  • ERP purchasing records maintained accurately

  • 3+ years in manufacturing procurement preferred.
