Job description

About the Job:
$19 - $24 Hourly Wage (depending on experience).
Position Overview: Mechanic assistant - reporting directly to a shop Fleet Manager. Help managing and maintaining an in-house fleet of oil field vehicles, trailers and heavy equipment. DOT truck maintenance and day-to-day general shop tasks. Work in a recently constructed, 12,000 SF shop (completed in 2022). 
Major Duties: Help maintaining AJ's system of regular maintenance & fleet oversight. Ensure maintenance work is completed to all state, federal and company standards. Shop & tool organization. General Maintenance on vehicle fleet. In-depth repairs to be overseen by shop manager.
Minor Duties: General mechanic work. Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and minor repairing of diesel & gas-driven machinery, and also shop organization. Some fabrication and welding work may also be needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • 1-2 years mechanic experience (diesel preferred). 
  • Valid DL.
  • Applicant provides basic tools (preferred, not required). 
  • Good Troubleshooting Skills.
  • Electronic / Hydraulic Diagnostic Experience.
  • Organized & Detail Oriented.
  • Welding / Fabricating Experience (preferred, not required). 
  • Can work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Team Player.
 
Physical Requirements: 
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
