Job Summary

The Assistant Driller operates and repairs drilling equipment. They maintain drilling rigs, vehicles, and safety equipment associated with the safe and efficient operation of a rig site.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Required to work day and night shifts, overtime, and weekends if necessary; responsible for responding to call-outs when needed.
  • Provide routine maintenance such as valve repair, flow back iron repair, light plant repair, and miscellaneous repairs on oil and gas frac, flow back, and water transfer equipment.
  • Provide labor and equipment for rig-up of oil and gas tank batteries, oil and gas flow back equipment, water transfer equipment, and artificial lift installations.
  • Provide additional and/or replacement equipment when needed.
  • Monitor the flow back water, tubing/casing pressures, test water samples for TDS and PH, and submit daily reports to production with limited supervision.
  • Monitor and operate pumps, piping, and flow meters for water transfer process.
  • Possess good communication/ computer skills in order to submit the production reports, communicate with LOC to remove flow back water, and communicate the well history to the production foremen. 
  • Analyze data and make any required adjustments in a timely manner
  • Train for the duties and responsibilities of other Field Service Roustabout positions.
  • Adhere to all Company Policies and all HS&E practices, policies, and procedures.

  • Minimum training requirements:  Health, Safety and Environment Orientation and Rig Specific Start Up Training, Well Control Certification, Supervisor Level, Drilling Only, and Horizontal and Extended Reach Drilling (HERDIT
  • Basic/Intermediate computer skills, including the ability to
    • Operate a computer, Omron Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Pason system
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to
    • Exchange accurate information relating to technical and safety performance with vendors, engineering, employees, etc.
    • Read, learn, and educate on safety and technical manuals
Education & Experience

Minimum: 3 - 5 years related experience

High school diploma, GED, or the equivalent is preferred
