Your Opportunity: 

The Herff Jones Production team is looking for a Seasonal Prepress Technician to join our team in Indianapolis, IN.

This is a full-time Seasonal position with the possibility of converting to full-time associate at the end of the season based on performance, attendance, and position availability. Seasons vary between August through end of May.

Shift: Standard shift is 6:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday (8/1-12/1) 7:00 am – 3:30 pm Monday through Friday (12/1-6/1).

Hours fluctuate to ten- and twelve-hour days if needed during peak season including Saturdays and Sundays if necessary, due to customer demand.

Here's How You’ll Make an Impact:

As a member of our production team, you will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment supporting the printing and distribution of high school and college announcements, diplomas and diploma covers to help our customers celebrate some of their greatest achievements. As a Prepress Technician, you are responsible for updating output files for offset and digital printing using InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat Pro. In the role, the Prepress Technician completes the order process for all fine paper product lines, monitors template consistency, corrects exceptions, and addresses quality containment situations. A strong focus on attention to detail and a balance of priorities will be key to operating successfully in the role.

What We Want You to Accomplish:

  • Maintain master file template consistency and quality by following department standard operating procedures.
  • Understand all product job tickets and manufacturing specifications.
  • Demonstrate a keen eye for detail and adhere to department quality standards.

What You’ll Be Doing On A Daily Basis:

  • Prepress tickets according to standard operating procedures, redirecting issues when found.
  • Utilize tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Excel, Outlook, Oracle, and other technology to complete work.
  • Participate in proofing and determining root cause of failure points.
  • Communicate within and outside the department to clarify questions and keep production flow on target.
  • Work within a team environment to achieve production goals.
  • Maintain accurate production records to aid in production assessment and highlight key learning opportunities.
  • Assisting other departments as needed on projects, assignments, and tasks.

What You’ll Bring to the Table:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Utilize InDesign and Illustrator in producing output files for print.
  • Understand vector separations as pertaining to design documents and layers within InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Proven proficiency in using a variety of math functions to calculate document dimension specifications using various measurement systems (fractions, decimals, percentages, etc.)

Physical Requirements:

  • Daily activity includes but is not limited to lifting, carrying, sitting, grasping, reaching, standing, kneeling, walking, bending, twisting.
  • Reading, communication, math.
  • Working at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to regularly lift/move up to 50lbs.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to above
