What are Officer Ranks?

Officer ranks refer to the hierarchical levels of authority and responsibility assigned to commissioned officers in organizations such as the military, police, or other uniformed services. These ranks determine the chain of command, duties, and privileges of officers within the organization. Officer ranks are typically earned through a combination of education, training, experience, and promotion. Understanding these ranks is important for maintaining discipline and effective leadership within the organization.
