\r\n\r\n\r\nThe Connecticut Department of Transportation, Office of Property and Facilities Services seeks a qualified individual for the position of Building Construction Supervisor within its Code Enforcement Unit at our Newington Headquarters.\r\n\r\n\r\nContinue to Enjoy:\r\n\r\n\r\n Visit our new State Employee Benefits Overview page!\r\n Professional growth and development opportunities.\r\n A healthy work/life balance to all employees.\r\n\r\n\r\nJob Highlights:\r\n\r\n\r\n Full-time, 40 hours per week\r\n Monday through Friday\r\n 7:00 am - 3:30 pm\r\n\r\n\r\nThe Role:\r\nThe individual filling this position will be accountable for the daily supervision of the Code Enforcement Unit relative to building and fire safety code compliance for the agency's facility and related site construction, renovation, maintenance, and occupancy. Included are all electrical services tied into the agency's infrastructure for code compliance and accuracy, including traffic signals along state roads from design review and preconstruction through construction and subsequent maintenance activities. It is preferred that this person is experienced with interpreting and enforcement of the intent of contract plans and specifications.\r\n\r\n\r\nThis person will ensure the agency's compliance with state and federal accrediting bodies, including the Federal Railway Administration (FRA), Amtrak, OSHA, the physical attributes of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), State Building and Fire Safety Codes (OSBI and OSFM) and DEEP fueling regulations.\r\n\r\n\r\nPosition Details:\r\n\r\n\r\n The incumbent will be required to be present on project sites and resolve disputed information promptly and accurately. Overtime may be required.\r\n Candidates will be issued a State vehicle, cell phone, and tablet. PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In a state agency this class is accountable for supervising Building Construction Specialists in thereview of development and construction planning of projects, the inspection of construction and thecoordination of subsequent maintenance activities.\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Seven (7) years of experience with construction projects involving all building trades (e.g., plumbing, heating, electrical) or as a Municipal Building Official.\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of the General Experience must have been in a lead capacity in construction projects.\r\n\r\n\r\nNOTE: For state employees this experience is interpreted at the level of a Building Construction Specialist 2.\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
\r\n\r\n Licensure as a Municipal Building Official may be substituted for four (4) years of the General Experience.\r\n Licensure as an Assistant Municipal Building Official may be substituted for three (3) years of the General Experience.\r\n\r\n\r\n
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
\r\n\r\n Building Official Licensure by the State of Connecticut.\r\n Fire-Safety Code Official Licensure by the State of Connecticut.\r\n Supervisory experience.\r\n Experience managing multiple diverse projects of varying scale.\r\n Experience working on large facility projects and/or multiple commercial and/or industrial buildings.\r\n Experience with prioritizing and managing assigned projects to ensure compliance and to effectively meet critical deadlines.\r\n Experience with interpreting and enforcement of contract specifications.\r\n Experience in documenting all efforts taken to ensure compliance with laws, codes, regulations, ordinances, and the Americans with Disabilities Act standards.\r\n Experience in reading, understanding, interpreting, and applying municipal/state codes, rules and regulations in conjunction with report writing.\r\n Experience using Microsoft 365 including Outlook, Excel, Word, and TEAMS.\r\n\r\n\r\n
