The Opportunity:

The Product Manager, Grid Automation is responsible for developing a comprehensive Grid Automation strategy in the context of a greater grid modernization platform. This is a market-facing position and includes market analysis, competitive analysis, pricing strategy and interface with the commercial marketing, sales engineering, and sales teams. This position works with a multitude of stakeholders, both internally with departments including Product Development, Sales, Manufacturing and Field Operations, and externally with current and prospective customers and channel partners located throughout North America and the Caribbean Basin.

Location of Position:

The preferred locations for this position are our Burnaby, BC, Canada or Raleigh, NC, USA offices. Remote work may be considered for the right candidate.

Specifically, the Product Manager will:

  • Define and lead the product strategy and roadmap for Tantalus grid automation portfolio (including hardware, firmware, communications networks, enterprise software, as applicable), ensuring alignment with market trends, utility customer needs, regulatory requirements, and company's business goals.
  • Oversee the full product lifecycle (ideation development launch operations endoflife), managing crossfunctional teams (engineering, firmware, QA, field ops, sales, marketing) to deliver reliable, scalable and compliant solutions.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer: conduct market research, competitive analysis, stakeholder engagement (utilities, partners, internal teams) to surface requirements, validate product concepts, and ensure high customer satisfaction and adoption.
  • Drive gotomarket planning including pricing strategy, value proposition, positioning, feature prioritization, support & training plans, and sales enablement to maximize revenue, margin, and competitive differentiation.
  • Foster leadership & team excellence: build, mentor and manage a highperforming product management organization; establish product metrics / KPIs; instill a culture of innovation, datadriven decision making, and continuous improvement.


What you Bring:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Business, or related technical field is required. An MBA is an asset.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in product management within B2B technology, smart grid, IoT, energy systems, or enterprise software/hardware solutions.
  • Broad understanding of utility industry requirements, including deep involvement in the grid operations, distribution system engineering, load/DER management, outage management, and/or distribution automation problem spaces.
  • Excellent business acumen and business case development experience.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and analytically, with sound-technical knowledge.
  • Proven ability to plan and execute against a plan.
