What You'll Do

The Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) RN is responsible for managing all aspects of the Cancer Registry program while ensuring compliance with the standards set by the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer (CoC). This role includes reviewing patient records and diagnostic information to accurately analyze and abstract tumor data. The ODS RN collects, reports, and maintains case-finding and follow-up data within the cancer registry database. Additionally, this role provides clinical expertise and support to the non-RN Oncology Data Specialist. The ODS RN plays a critical role in sustaining CoC accreditation through active collaboration with the multidisciplinary cancer care team.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)-Graduate of an accredited nursing
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Ohio, active and in good standing.
  • Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS). ODS, ODS-C, and ODS-Certified are synonymous credentials, and replace the previous professional credential of Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR). If not certified, must obtain ODS within two years of hire.
