Job description

Job Summary
As a valued member of our nonprofit retail team dedicated to ocean conservation and science education, the Part-Time Sales Associate plays a key role in delivering an engaging and educational shopping experience across our multiple store locations. This position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, promoting mission-driven merchandise, and supporting daily retail operations. Duties include assisting with inventory receiving and restocking, maintaining a clean and organized store environment, and engaging guests to help them connect with our conservation and science mission.
This role may require occasional travel between locations and availability on weekends and holidays.
Core Responsibilities
  • Achieve and exceed sales goals
  • Maintain customer service standards to the highest possible level
  • Take responsibility in coordination with the Director of Retail Operations for productivity and profitability of the store
  • Maintain the highest level of security and safety awareness in the store
  • Develop volunteers to be knowledgeable in areas of product, merchandising, customer service, and sales goals/objectives
  • In coordination with the Director of Retail Operations, participate in the execution of effectively receiving and merchandising inventory
  • Have thorough knowledge of sales floor and stockroom organization
  • Responsible for all activities within the store in the absence of the Senior Sales Associate or Director of Retail Operations
  • Ability to work shifts on weekends and holidays according to the needs of the store

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
  • High School Diploma
  • Proficiency in POS Systems
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong commitment to corporate sustainability, ocean conservation,
    science education
    and the mission of Loggerhead Marinelife Center.

Founded in 1983, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is a leading cultural attraction in South Florida and today remains free to the public. The Center has grown to become a global leader in the rehabilitation, research, and protection of sea turtles, serving our broader mission to promote ocean ecosystem conservation and train future generations to do the same. Annually we reach 900,000 guests with our transformational STEM education programs and partner with nearly 200 organizations across six continents and 16 countries in ocean conservation. In 2022, we opened our new 27,500 square-foot campus expanding our exhibition, education, convening space, and medical facilities and increasing our regional economic impact.

is required to stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This position may involve working outdoors in Florida, often in hot and humid conditions, and at events that extend into evening and weekend hours. Must be willing and able to travel for offsite programming and possess a valid driver's license.
Notes
This is an hourly, non-exempt, and non-essential
part-time position. The successful incumbent may be required to perform tasks beyond the scope of this job description as requested by the supervisor. This recruitment may be used to select candidates for additional open positions. It is our policy that all team members, including newly hired, transferred, and promoted team members, will be carefully monitored and evaluated for an initial introductory 3-month period on the job. After satisfactory completion of the introductory evaluation, such team members will be evaluated annually.
