As an Island Safety and Compliance Manager for Disney Cruise Line, you will serve as a technical resource supporting Island Operations. You will provide guidance, consultation, and recommendations to salaried and hourly Cast Members in the implementation, evaluation, and sustainment of essential safety programs across designated business areas. In this role, you will partner with operational teams to identify, assess, analyze, and help resolve a broad range of safety and compliance issues across diverse Disney Cruise Line operations, promoting safe, efficient, and compliant work environments.

The Island Safety and Compliance Manager will report to the Manager of Entertainment Occupational Safety and sits in Celebration, FL.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Safety and Health support for both Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay.

  • Interpret, implement, and ensure compliance with Safety and Health programs, policies, and regulatory requirements.

  • Partner with Operational Leaders and cross-functional teams to prevent injuries, reduce risks, address Guest and Cast safety concerns, and integrate effective safety processes into daily operations.

  • Monitor and evaluate Safety and Health performance through audits, inspections, incident investigations, trend analysis, scorecards, and performance metrics.

  • Deliver safety training, communicate key Safety and Health initiatives, and promote a positive safety culture through behavioral and environmental improvements.

  • Conduct incident investigations, workplace inspections, job safety analyses, and technical assessments to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.

  • Support project planning, reviews, and safety walks by engaging stakeholders and ensuring Safety and Health considerations are integrated throughout all phases of work.

  • Keep Operational Leaders and Safety & Health Leadership informed of emerging safety trends, regulatory developments, and industry best practices.

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the business, culture, and operational challenges to effectively support safe outcomes and operational excellence.

  • Establish, facilitate, and participate in Safety Committee meetings and Island Operational Leadership meetings.

  • Monitor contractor safety performance to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Partner with the Safety and Health Programs Team to conduct indoor air quality investigations and other specialized assessments.

  • Travel regularly between Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay, with approximately 50-75% travel required.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional experience supporting occupational safety and health programs.

  • Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analyses, workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments.

  • Knowledge of applicable occupational safety and health regulations and industry best practices.

  • Experience developing, implementing, or supporting safety and health programs in an operational environment.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate safety performance data, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver training and communicate effectively with frontline employees and operational leaders.

  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships, influence decision-making, and drive safety initiatives without direct authority.

  • Must be able to walk extensively throughout island operations and work in outdoor environments with prolonged exposure to heat, humidity, and other weather conditions.

  • Must have a valid FL Driver's License with a clean driving record showing five (5) years of prior safe driving.

  • Travel may be required for this role.

  • Possess a valid Passport.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in hospitality, cruise, maritime, resort, theme park, construction, or other complex operational environments.

  • Experience supporting contractor safety programs and project reviews.

  • Experience conducting environmental or industrial hygiene assessments, including indoor air quality investigations.

  • Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, REHS, ARM, CPE, or PE.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety or Safety Engineering or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Education:

  • Master's Degree in Occupational Safety or Safety Engineering.

The hiring range for this position in Celebration, FL is $100,100.00-$134,200.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
