Job description

Chiropractor

WRMC Bethesda, MD

Position Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Services provided under this contract shall be performed in accordance with all State, County, and Department of Defense, WRNMMC and subordinate clinic guidelines and reporting requirements. The contractor shall perform a full range of chiropractor services on site using Government-furnished supplies, facilities and equipment. Productivity is expected to be comparable with that of other individuals performing similar services.
  • Perform standard osseous and soft tissue procedures only, as commonly taught in chiropractic colleges accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education.
  • Employ and record every measure of observation that will more substantially profile the patient during the initial patient interview and consultation.
  • Conduct chiropractic physical examination as clinically indicated.
  • Utilize X-ray and standard laboratory tests appropriate to the chiropractic diagnosis and within the MTF's capabilities as detailed by the standard MTF operating procedures. Radiological examinations shall be limited to musculo-skeletal radiographs, skull series, chest (PA and lateral views) and rib series. MRI and CT musculoskeletal studies and Bone Scans may be ordered following protocols established by the department of orthopedics. Lab tests shall be limited to SMA6, UA/C&S, Occult Blood, Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate, vitamin D, HLA-B27, RA, ANA, CRP, Lyme titers, and Complete Blood Count.
  • Utilize the physical therapy modalities of heat, cold, light, electricity, traction, sound and rehabilitation exercises in patient treatment area.
  • Provide patient instructions and recommendations in all matters pertaining to hygiene, nutrition, exercise and life style changes and ergonomic factors in the activities of daily living.
  • Refer patients to specialty services available at the MTF.
  • Orient and instruct clinical support staff.
  • Plan and conduct lectures and training programs on chiropractic related subjects for staff, students and patients. Teach, conduct or participate in seminars concerning the basic and/or clinical sciences of chiropractic if requested and approved by the Government.
  • Order appropriate orthotics, lifts, collars, and lumbar sacral supports if available at the MTF.
  • Place active duty patients on limited duty status (profile) according to MTF bylaws and as appropriate.
  • Place active duty patients on quarters for a maximum of 72 hours in accordance with MTF operating procedures.
  • Document, on forms provided by the MTF, actions taken such as patient history, patient evaluation, treatments/adjustments, unusual occurrences, and morbidity in accordance with the standard MTF operating procedures.
  • In the execution of duties, the HCW shall utilize the established chiropractic guidelines identified as Guidelines for Chiropractic Quality Assurance and Practice Parameters: Proceedings of the Mercy Center Consensus Conference.
  • Demonstrate the appropriate professionalism and conduct in providing executive health services.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three (3) continuous years of Chiropractor experience within the last five (5) years.
  • Possess a Degree (Doctor of Chiropractic (DC)) from a chiropractic college accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education.
  • Possess a current, valid and unrestricted license to practice as a DC in any one of the fifty States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • Be (and, at all times remain) in good standing with the state board of chiropractic examiners in the state in which the chiropractor currently practices with no current chiropractic license restrictions in any State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • Shall have and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS). Certification must be by American Heart Association.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
