Job Summary:
Damco Solutions is seeking a hands-on Observability Engineer to enhance telemetry for a monolithic application. The role involves implementing Open Telemetry-based instrumentation and integrating with observability tools while collaborating with the internal Python team to address challenges in legacy systems.
Responsibilities:
• Instrument legacy Python-based components to extract logs, metrics, and traces using Open Telemetry.
• Build and manage the data layer that enables integration with observability platforms.
• Collaborate with Banking's internal Python team and provide hands-on implementation support.
• Identify challenges in retrofitting observability into legacy systems and advise on best practices.
• This is a delivery-oriented role, requiring hands-on skills — not just architectural oversight.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Hands-on experience as an Observability Engineer
• Experience building out telemetry for monolithic applications with distributed batch jobs
• Experience implementing Open Telemetry-based instrumentation
• Integration experience with tools like Grafana, Splunk, Dynatrace, or Datadog
• Ability to instrument legacy Python-based components to extract logs, metrics, and traces using Open Telemetry
