Job description

We are designers of storied places.

OBMI is a global master planning, architecture, and interior design practice shaping luxury resorts, boutique hotels, private residences, and mixed-use destinations around the world.

For more than 90 years, we have created places deeply rooted in land, culture, and emotion, balancing imagination, craft, and care.

With studios in Miami, London, Dubai, and KSA, we collaborate globally to deliver holistic, experiential environments across the Middle East, the Caribbean, Latin America, and beyond. Clients see us as trusted advisors, drawn to our belief in thoughtful design, long-term value, and spaces that are both innovative and sustainable.

Our Miami studio is growing, and we are seeking a Designer I – Architecture to join our team. As part of our team, you will contribute to a wide range of international projects — focusing on hospitality led projects — within a busy and collaborative studio.

About the Role

The Designer I is an emerging architectural professional who contributes to both the creative and technical aspects of the design process while gaining hands-on experience working alongside senior architects and project teams.

You will support projects across a diverse portfolio of hospitality, residential, and mixed-use developments, assisting with concept exploration, modeling, drawing production, and research.

At OBMI, the Designer I role is an important foundation for professional growth. You will develop your design thinking, technical skills, and understanding of project workflows while gaining exposure to how complex international projects are delivered from concept through documentation.

What You’ll Do

  1. Support project teams from concept design through technical documentation
  2. Produce 2D drawings, 3D models, and visualizations to communicate design ideas
  3. Assist with the development of concept presentations and design packages
  4. Create and update Revit-based drawings and models under the guidance of senior designers
  5. Translate design ideas into clear, organized drawing sets and graphics
  6. Conduct design research, precedent studies, and site analysis
  7. Assist with maintaining organized project documentation and drawing files
  8. Update drawings and models based on internal and consultant mark-ups
  9. Participate in design meetings and discussions, contributing ideas and taking notes
  10. Support project teams with deliverable tracking, coordination, and presentation preparation
  11. Apply OBMI standards to drawings, reports, and project documentation
  12. Ensure design work aligns with relevant building codes and regulatory requirements

Who We’re Looking For

  • We’re seeking a curious, motivated emerging architect who is passionate about design, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to a collaborative studio environment.

You are:

  1. Equipped with 3–5 years of professional architectural experience (excluding internships)
  2. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (Master’s degree a plus)
  3. Skilled in Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, SketchUp, or similar 3D modeling tools
  4. Comfortable producing architectural drawings, models, and presentation graphics
  5. Familiar with architectural documentation standards and drafting principles
  6. Knowledgeable about building codes, regulations, and design best practices
  7. Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  8. Curious, adaptable, and eager to learn new tools and design approaches
  9. A collaborative team member who communicates clearly and professionally
  • Experience with computational design tools such as Grasshopper is a plus.

Why OBMI

You’ll join a globally recognized design practice known for shaping distinctive destinations and hospitality environments around the world. At OBMI, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work on international hospitality and mixed-use projects
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across global studios
  • Develop your design, technical, and professional skills
  • Contribute to a studio culture built on creativity, collaboration, and accountability

Location: Miami, Florida
Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.
