Oblon is a law firm focusing on intellectual property law, often employing attorneys with J.D.s and patent agents with technical degrees registered with the USPTO. Patent agents are professionals authorized to prepare and file patent applications but are not licensed attorneys. While Oblon employs both attorneys and patent agents, the key difference lies in legal licensing and scope of practice. Both roles are integral to patent prosecution, but Oblon as a firm provides legal services beyond patent filing, including litigation and legal advice.
