Job description

The New York City Council is seeking an experienced Information Technology Specialist to work with the team in the Information Technology Division.
SALARY RANGE:
$85,000 to $95,000
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide comprehensive technical support for computer hardware, peripherals, and software applications used by Council staff.
  • Deliver on-site and remote technical support at Council Member offices and special events throughout the five boroughs of New York City.
  • Work a five-day schedule that may include Saturdays and/or Sundays, based on operational needs.
  • Diagnose, analyze, and resolve end-user hardware and software issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Implement end-to-end solutions to restore system functionality and minimize service disruptions.
  • Provide responsive and professional technical assistance to both internal and external users.
  • Follow established Information Technology policies, procedures, problem-management protocols, and documentation standards.
  • Support users across multiple office locations and remote environments.
  • Demonstrate a structured, analytical, and disciplined approach to troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid New York State driver's license.
  • Three to five years of experience in a Help Desk or technical support role.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with users at all levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows 11, Microsoft 365 (Office 365), and Windows Active Directory.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN troubleshooting, DNS, DHCP, VOIP systems, Citrix environments, Wi-Fi, printers, and mobile device support.
  • Experience supporting macOS environments is a plus.
