Wire Design & Install Engineer

Boeing Defense Systems (BDS) the Electrical Capability has a great opportunity for multiple experienced Wiring Design and Installation Engineers in Ridley Park, PA. This role falls within our Philadelphia Design Center and supports a vast portfolio of aerospace products across the Boeing enterprise.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains cable/wire harness detail and assembly designs.

  • Supports and analyzes results and performs design reviews.

  • Develops and maintains electrical product detail, assembly and installation designs (e.g., equipment racks, power panels, cable routing, and geometry, antennas).

  • Provides engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., rejection tags, production action requests, shop revision requests).

  • Follows and documents processes, specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacture of electrical commodities.

  • Supports and develops basic statements of work.

  • Assists and participates in technical review of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection.

  • Analyzes functional and physical input to ensure development of complete integrated design. Works under general direction.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Ability to Obtain U.S. Secret - Interim Pre-Start & Final Post Start.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):(please see education and experience for the level below)

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 3+ years of experience with wire harness, electrical and/or mechanical design.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an ABET accredited course of study in engineering and ABET accredited college / university. (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical)

  • Experience in Model-Based Definition (CATIA V5, Solidworks, Siemens, NX), ENOVIA, and PDM

  • Experience working in a cross functional team environment and have good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience in electrical wiring design, wiring installation design, equipment installation design, systems and wiring architecture, FAA/EWIS/military certification, electrical fabrication, and electrical production line support

  • Familiarity with electrical system design principles and relevant regulations

  • Ability to quickly adapt to program tools and procedures

Typical Education/Experience:

Level 3

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications.
