Job description

Our client is seeking a Front-End Software Engineer to join their web development team in Chicago. This role will focus on building and enhancing modern web applications using Vue.js and Nuxt.js. The ideal candidate is passionate about creating high-quality user experiences, writing clean and maintainable front-end code, and collaborating closely with product, design, and engineering teams.

The team is currently migrating an existing Vue.js application to Nuxt.js, making prior experience with server-side rendering (SSR) and modern Vue frameworks highly desirable.

This is primarily a front-end position with opportunities to interact with GraphQL APIs and gain exposure to broader application architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain modern web applications using Vue.js and Nuxt.js.
  • Participate in the migration of an existing Vue application to the Nuxt framework.
  • Build responsive, scalable, and reusable UI components.
  • Consume and integrate GraphQL APIs to retrieve and display application data.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver high-quality user experiences.
  • Optimize front-end performance, accessibility, and overall application usability.
  • Follow front-end engineering best practices, coding standards, and testing methodologies.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of the development process.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of professional front-end development experience (mid-level to senior).
  • Strong experience with Vue.js.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn Nuxt.js.
  • Strong understanding of modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Experience consuming REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
  • Knowledge of responsive web development and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Experience with Git and modern development workflows.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within an agile development team.

  • Hands-on experience with Nuxt.js and server-side rendering (SSR).
