Position Summary
The Department of Nutrition at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for temporary, part-time affiliate faculty teaching positions. The primary responsibility of this position is to teach one or more credit hours as determined by the department. Areas of teaching include undergraduate and graduate courses, including Introduction to Nutrition, Medical Nutrition Therapy, Community Nutrition, and others. Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of affiliate faculty is to teach one or more credit hours as determined by the Department of Nutrition. Faculty are required to provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines. Areas of teaching include undergraduate and graduate courses, including Introduction to Nutrition, Medical Nutrition Therapy, Community Nutrition, and other courses. In addition, faculty must be available for consultation with students outside of class either in-person or remotely. Faculty will conduct student assessments as prescribed by the curriculum and must be willing to adhere to policies and procedures regarding students and faculty as established by the University and Department. The ability to adapt and learn new modes of instruction is highly encouraged. Candidates need to be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of a Master's degree in Nutrition or related field to teach undergraduate level courses. Doctorate in Nutrition or related field is required to teach graduate level courses.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential
  • Two years of teaching experience relevant to one or more of the content areas
  • Previous experience in teaching in an online environment
  • Experience with diverse, historically underrepresented and/or first-generation college students

Terms of Employment
Affiliate faculty are part-time, at-will employees hired to teach on a per credit hour basis for specific classes, usually on a semester-by-semester basis. Affiliate faculty are not eligible for benefit coverage under the University's benefit program. All such teaching assignments are dependent on budget and enrollment.
Qualified candidates will be expected to teach in person/on campus upon hire.
Salary for Announcement
The final salary is based on the number of credit hours assigned at a rate determined by university policy.
Rate of pay per credit hour assignment can be between $1264 - $1482.
