POSITION PURPOSE


Cal-a-Vie Health Spa is seeking an exceptional, highly skilled Nutrition Department Manager to oversee and elevate the nutrition experience within our award-winning luxury wellness resort. This role is ideal for a clinician who is equally passionate about evidence-based nutrition, functional wellness, and delivering a refined, personalized guest experience.


The Nutrition Department Manager serves as both a clinical expert and strategic leader, responsible for guiding the nutrition department, enhancing revenue-driving services, and delivering transformative, high-touch care to a discerning clientele.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Clinical Excellence & Guest Experience


  • Deliver personalized, one-on-one nutrition consultations for guests, integrating functional, integrative, and evidence-based approaches
  • Interpret and communicate advanced lab testing (e.g., DUTCH, NutrEval, GI Effects) in a clear, actionable, and guest-friendly manner
  • Design customized nutrition, supplementation, and lifestyle protocols tailored to individual goals (weight optimization, hormone balance, metabolic health, longevity)
  • Lead engaging and educational nutrition lectures, workshops, and group discussions for guests
  • Provide a luxury-level guest experience, balancing clinical depth with warmth, approachability, and professionalism


Program Development & Innovation


  • Develop and refine nutrition programming aligned with emerging trends in functional medicine, women’s health, metabolic health, and longevity
  • Collaborate with culinary team to ensure alignment between nutrition philosophy and menu execution
  • Continuously evolve service offerings to remain competitive within the luxury wellness and integrative health space
  • Create high-quality client-facing materials, protocols, and educational content, including on social media, in partnership with our marketing  and PR teams


Revenue Growth & Business Strategy


  • Drive revenue through nutrition consultations, lab testing, supplement sales, and follow-up services
  • Identify opportunities to enhance guest conversion into paid services during and after their stay
  • Collaborate with leadership and marketing to support strategic growth initiatives and campaigns
  • Maintain strong understanding of key performance metrics and actively contribute to department success


Leadership & Team Management

  • Oversee and mentor nutrition staff, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous growth
  • Set and uphold high standards for clinical care, guest interaction, and professional conduct
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members
  • Ensure seamless coordination with cross-functional teams (fitness, spa, culinary)

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS


Education/Certification: Registered Dietitian required. Must also hold a Master’s degree, preferably in a health or nutrition-related specialty.

Knowledge: Must have completed coursework that includes food and nutrition sciences, sociology, biochemistry, physiology, microbiology and chemistry; Familiarity with a wide variety of nutritional supplements, complementary and alternative medicine modalities, and current culinary trends; Competency with computer based nutritional analysis and strong understanding of functional nutrition is desired. 

Experience: Minimum three (3) to five (5) years’ experience working in a spa, medical or health service related industry. Guest service oriented; Able to communicate effectively and confidently in a daily public forum using a variety of presentation formats including: power point presentations, food demonstrations, casual lectures, and impromptu questions. Experience on camera with social media is preferred. Strong familiarity with interpreting functional lab tests is highly preferred.

Skills/Abilities: Able to compose original educational materials related to current nutrition and dietary topics, including handouts, recipe compilations and presentations; Must be comfortable with daily public speaking requirements. Must be comfortable and confident on camera for social media marketing purposes. You will be serving as the face and personality of the nutrition department.

Availability: Able to work hours that include weekdays, weekends, nights and/or holidays
