General Summary
Directs and coordinates the activities of Nursing Support Services and Throughput for WellSpan York Hospital. Provides leadership to house supervisors, central staffing office, nursing resource team, IV team, and entity throughput. Ensures effective usage of resources and timeliness of patient flow.
Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Directs, coordinates, and reacts to clinical, administrative, and technical functions and activities associated with Clinical Support Services and Throughput at WellSpan York Hospital.
  • Directs and oversees implementation of appropriate management teams and structures, processes, and systems in order to develop effective clinical support for the delivery of care, patient flow, and patient throughput objectives throughout the organization.
  • Collaborates with other clinical, administrative, and service line leaders, to advance clinical processes, system improvements, access to care, care delivery, patient flow and patient throughput requirements of all patient populations.
  • Refines protocols and processes, including clinical policy development, review and implementation, through collaboration with clinical leaders, physician groups, support services and ancillary departments as appropriate, to support and maintain access to care, care delivery, achievement of clinical outcomes, performance improvement, and promote fiscal responsibility throughout the facility and Health System.
  • Serves as a liaison to external groups that collaborate with clinical support systems and services.
  • Collaborates with entity and system leaders to identify patient/client needs and develops quality programs to meet those needs. Ensures delivery of quality services for patients.

Common Expectations:
  • Recommends staffing levels for departments under supervision.
  • Develops and prepares annual budget. Monitors expenditures.
  • Develops, establishes and implements goals, objectives, and policies and procedures for department/entity operation specific to staffing, scheduling, and throughput.
  • Collaborates with, mentors and coaches the management team within the division.
  • Participates in the development of strategic plan, goal setting and execution of improvement work.
  • Continuously assesses and improves the department/service line/entity/System's performance. Maintains appropriate quality control/assessment programs (if applicable).
  • Compiles data for and prepares regularly scheduled or special reports, analyses and statements.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
  • Maintains departmental reports and records and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations.

Qualifications
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
  • Masters Degree required

Work Experience:
  • 10+ years leadership experience in a hospital/healthcare setting required.
  • Staffing and patient flow experience preferred.

Licenses:
  • Licensed Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse Multi State License required

Courses and Training:
  • Board Certified Executive Nurse Certification preferred.
