Job description

Vice President - Informatics
Job Summary: The VP of Nursing Informatics is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and maintaining the clinical information system to ensure that WMC Health is consistent within its practices and strategic objectives. This position acts as a liaison between IT and the clinical areas of the Enterprise. The VP, Nursing Informatics performs analysis and implementation of Electronic Health Record applications for nursing documentation and information tracking.
Responsibilities:
  • Supports the networks and other devices associated with documenting in the Electronic Health Record.
  • Advises the Nursing Administration to assess and plan for new information systems.
  • Assists in the evaluation of new clinical software applications and products.
  • Develops specifications for system capabilities and enhancements.
  • Provides consultative services regarding workflow processes and technological solutions.
  • Coordinates pre- and post-implementation activities of clinical system installations in accordance with WMC Health standards, including generation of reports.
  • Assists in the development of training manuals, system documentation and procedure development.
  • Coordinates and assists in quality assurance testing of clinical systems software and assists in end-user issue resolution.
  • Participates in departmental surveys and impact analysis.
  • Assists with formulating policies and procedures associated with clinical information systems.
  • Assists in testing new applications and upgrades to existing systems.
  • Participates in clinical leadership meetings to guide teams toward problem resolution and system optimization.
  • Identifies opportunities for process optimization within nursing and coordinates the implementation.
  • Participates in project management processes including project documentation, monitoring of overall project progress, project communication, and management.
  • Educates employees on workflows, processes and Electronic Health Record functionality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience: 7 years of professional nursing experience, including 3 years at a supervisory level, required. Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing, required.
Licenses / Certifications: Possession of a valid license and current registration, issued by the New York State Department of Education, as a Registered Professional Nurse.
