RN PCU / Stepdown โ€“ Neuro/Stroke Unit

Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13 Weeks) | Full-Time | Onsite | Night Shift (12-Hour)

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate treatment effectiveness in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Administer medications safely and in accordance with state practice standards and facility policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patient care coordination across hospital departments, including communication with family members and caregivers.
  • Clinically manage patients with multi-system conditions, including those requiring cardiac drips and hemodynamic monitoring, using evidence-based clinical judgment.
  • Anticipate and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions, advocating for patient safety and quality of life in collaboration with palliative, spiritual, and ethics teams.
  • Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives and uphold patient safety standards throughout the unit.
Required Qualifications
  • Current RN license in the state of practice or covered under a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from an approved source required prior to direct patient care.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required.
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification required.
  • Dysrhythmia Exam required (study guide available upon placement).
  • Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required; at least 6 months in an acute care hospital setting.
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Neuro and/or stroke nursing experience strongly preferred.
  • CCRN or PCCN certification preferred.
  • Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) system preferred.
  • Completion of a Critical Care Course preferred.
