Job description

Job Title: Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) - General Surgery/Trauma
Location: Northwest Ohio
We are seeking an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (with First Assist training, or willingness to obtain) or a Physician Assistant (ideal candidate due to training background) to join our General Surgery/Trauma team. This role offers a diverse mix of clinic, OR, and inpatient responsibilities in a collaborative environment. Candidates must have some prior exposure to surgery-minimum suturing experience required.
Position Highlights:
  • Schedule: Minimum of 40 hours per week
  • Responsibilities:
    • Rotate onsite coverage with other PAs to provide 24/7 trauma and emergency general surgery coverage
    • Respond as the first provider to all trauma activations for initial evaluation and work-up
    • Conduct general surgery consults and coordinate care with on-call physicians
    • Complete admissions, inpatient rounding, and outpatient clinic services (on a rotating basis)
    • Serve as First Assist in the OR (training provided if not already certified)
    • Weekend rotation: 1:4
    • Approx. 7 days of call per month (with additional compensation for extra call coverage)

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Base salary starting at $115,000 (higher based on experience)
  • Annual performance bonus up to 5%
  • Compensation increases with experience and tenure
  • Full benefits package, including health, retirement, and paid time off

Requirements:
  • Acute Care NP (First Assist certification or willingness to obtain) or Physician Assistant
  • Prior surgical experience required; minimum exposure with suturing skills
  • Strong clinical decision-making and ability to work in a fast-paced trauma environment
