Responsibilities

The Department of Neurologic Surgery is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (NP/PA) to work as part of their multidisciplinary team, which consists of 14 NP/PAs and 21 surgeons. This challenging and dynamic position will have a primary focus on collaboratively managing the full spectrum of services provided to neurosurgical patients in the pediatric and adult inpatient and outpatient settings. Responsibilities include the management of patients using protocol-driven treatment strategies, and providing care in the inpatient and outpatient settings within the full scope of practice. At this time this role does not include OR surgical assist.  
The incumbent will work closely with the physicians, chief residents, residents, NP/PAs and nursing staff of the Department of Neurologic Surgery. This position functions with a high level of autonomy.
 


Qualifications

Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN license and certification as a FNP or Certified Nurse Specialist (CNS) with DEA.
Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice.
Internal candidates:  Please submit a cover letter, resume, your two most recent ePraisals and 1-2 letters of recommendation. 
External candidates:  Please submit a cover letter, resume and a minimum of two letters of reference.

Must hold or be able to obtain and maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications within first year. Must be eligible for DEA registration. 

Preferred Neurosurgery APP experience. 

Excellent time management skills essential to this position.
