Many also earn additional income through bonuses or commissions, especially when working in private clinics or aesthetic practices. Certification in cosmetic procedures and strong patient relationships can enhance earning potential.

What are some common challenges nurse injectors face when starting in aesthetic practices, and how can they overcome them?

New Nurse Injectors often face challenges such as mastering injection techniques, building patient trust, and staying current with evolving products and procedures. To overcome these, it's helpful to seek mentorship from experienced injectors, participate in hands-on training sessions, and regularly attend workshops or conferences. Developing strong communication skills also helps in educating patients and managing expectations, which is essential for building lasting client relationships and a successful practice.

Both Nurse Injectors and Medical Aesthetic Nurses are registered nurses with specialized training in aesthetic procedures. Nurse Injectors typically focus on administering injectables such as Botox and dermal fillers, working mainly in medical spas and cosmetic clinics. Medical Aesthetic Nurses may perform a wider range of aesthetic treatments, including laser procedures and skincare, in similar environments. The main difference lies in scope of practice, with Nurse Injectors specializing in injectables and Medical Aesthetic Nurses offering broader aesthetic services.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a nurse injector, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Nurse Injector, you need a current RN or LPN/LVN license, a solid understanding of facial anatomy, and specialized training in cosmetic injectables. Exceptional attention to detail, patient communication, and a commitment to ongoing education help you stand out in this role. These skills ensure safe, effective, and satisfying cosmetic outcomes for clients while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.

What does a nurse injector do?

As a nurse injector, you administer injections to patients, usually as part of a cosmetic dermal treatment. You educate patients about their diagnosis and treatment plan, talk about the benefits and risks of a proposed treatment plan, explain the alternatives, and write prescriptions. Many nurse injectors specialize in Botox treatments, but some also qualify to inject other substances as part of a treatment plan. Depending on the company, you may be asked to recommend or demonstrate retail products, ensure each treatment room is show ready, ensure the facility has enough supplies for each treatment, and answer any questions that are asked.

Job description

Aesthetic & Wellness Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistantย

Experienced Aesthetics Injector |ย  PRN / Flexibleย  | 1099ย

The Opportunityย

This is a 1099 independent contractor role for NPs and PAs with real aesthetics experience. You bring the clinical skill, the community reputation, and the patient relationships - Skin Clique plugs you into a nationwide network, handles the operational side, and gives you a framework to grow. More flexibility, higher pay, and a full support system behind you so you can focus on patients instead of operations

What this looks like in practice:ย
  • You deliver in-home and/or on-location aesthetic services (tox, filler, biostimulators, microneedling, and chemical peels) directly to patients in your communityย
  • You sell skincare to patients in person or onlineย
  • You can also offerย virtualย wellness prescriptions, including GLP-1, Rx hair loss, Rx derm,ย HRTย
  • You set your own schedule andย determineย your own availabilityย
  • You grow your patient base by showing up consistently in your communityย -ย Skin Clique's systems, support, and brand work behind the scenes to help you do itย
  • You earn industry-leading compensation based onย servicesย provided and skincare soldย
  • Youย operateย within Skin Clique's clinical and business framework, with full back-end supportย
  • You have a path to expand into brick-and-mortarย if and whenย that'sย the right next step for youย
What Skin Clique Handlesย

The aesthetics industry movesย fast, andย running the business side while delivering exceptional patient care is a lot to manage. We handle the operational complexity so you can stay in your zone:ย

  • Medical malpractice insurance coverageย
  • Collaborating physician provided for supervision requirementsย (if applicable)ย ย
  • Full clinical support so you're never navigating a patient situation aloneย
  • Electronic medical record system and clinical documentation platformย
  • All products and supplies needed for patientย appointmentsย areย providedย
  • Clinical protocols, safety standards, and best practicesย
  • Payment processing, so no merchant accounts, processing fees, or checkout headaches on your endย
  • Ongoing education, mentorship, and a nationwide provider communityย
  • Business frameworks and practiceย growth supportย
What You Bringย

We work with providers at all stagesย -ย from those just stepping into aestheticsย + wellnessย to experienced injectors with an established patient following. What matters is clinical excellence, a genuine connection to your community, and the drive to grow.ย

Requirementsย
  • Active NP license with board certificationย
  • Full prescriptive authority in your stateย
  • Current BLS or ACLS certificationย
  • Availability to commit 10+ hours per week to your Skin Clique practiceย
  • Strong fine motor skills for procedural aesthetic treatmentsย
  • Ability to work independently while adhering to Skin Clique clinical standardsย
  • Commitment to complete Skin Clique'sย preferredย training program andย demonstrateย safe, effective treatment administration before seeing patientsย
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort with self-directed workย
Preferredย
  • Existing patient network or community presence in your areaย
  • Prior experience in aesthetics, injections,ย andย patient acquisitionย
Training Requirementย

All providers complete Skin Clique's clinical protocols training before seeing patients - for experienced injectors, this is a focused onboarding to our standards and safety framework, not a foundational injection course

Compensation & What's Includedย

As a 1099 contractor, you are not eligible for employer-sponsored benefits. What you do receive:ย

  • Among the highest compensation rates in the aesthetics industryย ย
  • Personal discounts on Skin Clique services and productsย
  • CME and continuing education opportunitiesย
  • Exclusive training opportunities with industry-leading partnersย ย
  • Medical malpractice insurance coverageย
  • Collaborating physician for supervision complianceย
  • Annual performance-based bonus eligibilityย
Is This the Right Fit?ย

This opportunity is a great fit for NPs and PAs who are already practicing aesthetics and want a better way to do it - more flexibility, more earning potential, and a team behind them. Whether you want to stay concierge and grow your book, or you're ready to expand into brick-and-mortar down the road, there's a path here for you. If you're drawn to doing meaningful clinical work in a way that actually fits your life, we'd love to connect.
