Wage Range: $94,016 - $150,446 per year

In this role, you’ll partner with clinical, operational, and IT teams to define requirements, improve data quality, and deliver insights that support real decision-making. You’ll also help strengthen data literacy, governance, and reporting consistency across the organization.

Job Summary: 
Responsible for translating technical data and information between operations and IT Analytics, transforming complex data requests into functional requirements and actionable insights across the organization’s application ecosystem (e.g., Epic, HRIS, Decision Support, etc.). Leverages deep domain knowledge and an investigative mindset to ensure complete data solutions and connect operational workflows and technical logic. Utilizes technical acumen, healthcare business knowledge, and professional diplomacy to navigate ambiguity, negotiate viable solutions, and lead large-scale presentations for diverse audiences.
Supports organizational analytics by documenting requirements, analyzing future-state workflows, and partnering with stakeholders and developers to ensure timely and accurate delivery. Strengthens data literacy by developing and delivering training, including job aids, e-learning, and in-person sessions. Supports data governance and ensures confidence in organizational data. Contributes to workflow improvements and the strategic use of analytics to support organizational decision-making through collaborative engagement.
 
Primary Duties
  1. Translates complex operational workflows into precise technical specifications. Partners with BI developers to ensure analytic solutions align with data structures and capabilities. Uses available source systems and analytical platforms to understand data capture and downstream reporting implications.
  2. Partners with stakeholders to identify gaps and document detailed requirements.
  3. Utilizes technical acumen to investigate new requests and data discrepancies.  Ensures data solutions are technically viable by connecting operational data and technical logic.
  4. Recommends improvements to data collection processes, workflow efficiency, and reporting accuracy.
  5. Performs data validation and quality assurance by auditing system front-end workflows and data against back-end outputs to ensure reporting accuracy.
  6. Configures and manages current reporting tools within assigned applications. Act as a functional subject matter expert for the assigned application’s data models, ensuring that out-of-the-box tools are fully utilized before pursuing custom solutions.
  7. Designs and delivers comprehensive training and educational content. Develops and maintains job aids, e-learnings, SharePoint site(s), and analytics catalogs.  Leads individual and large group virtual and in-person training sessions.
  8. Supports organizational trust in data by partnering with IT and operational leaders to establish and maintain shared definitions and documentation standards. Participates in data governance practices to ensure reporting accuracy and governance maturity.
  9. Partners with leadership to manage the intake, triage, and prioritization of analytics requests.  Assists in managing stakeholder scope and project timeline expectations by resolving ambiguity in operational desires and defining technical needs.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, comprehending, and speaking English as required for business necessity.
  • Accountability for HIPAA privacy and security standards within the department or assigned nursing unit.
  • Must possess advanced skills to use Microsoft Office, specialized software, and electronic office equipment.

  • Proficiency in hosting virtual and in-person meetings for individual to large audiences.
  • Promotes the consistent use of analytical resources to all levels of staff.
  • Ability to align expectation through requirement gathering, documenting action items, and mentoring others on data literacy and consultative best practices.
  • Knowledge and understanding of complex healthcare operational and financial structures, processes, and regulatory considerations.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and organizational skills
  • Willingness to travel to onsite locations as needed to support in person initiatives.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to support and participate in projects in other areas when adequately trained. 
 
License, Certification, Education, or Experience: 
 
REQUIRED for the position:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Informatics, Project Management, Healthcare Administration, Data/Analytics, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 years of experience in business analysis, healthcare operations, analytics, informatics, or similar fields. 
  • 3 years demonstratable Epic EMR experience (build, informatics, clinical, rev cycle etc.)
  • Experience with visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau)
  • Experience supporting data governance (definitions, documentation, standards)
  • Demonstrated experience creating and delivering training on analytical content
  • Experience and ability to present information to large groups, in person and virtually
  • Cogito certification within 3 months of hire
  • Knowledge of relational databases and data extraction methods  
  • Demonstrated deep operational healthcare knowledge
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication, documentation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to facilitate communication at all levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to work independently while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
 
DESIRED for the position:
  • 5 years Epic EMR experience (application analyst, Informatics, or clinically base backgrounds)
  • Epic application(s) or Cogito experience and certification(s)
  • Basic SQL coding and relational database knowledge
  • Additional training or certification in analytics, process improvement, project management, or data governance
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Exposure or experience with visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau)
