Job description

Project Accountant

๐Ÿ“ Geneva, IL

๐Ÿ—๏ธ Growing General Contractor | Multiple Business Divisions

We're partnered with a well-established General Contractor in the western suburbs that's looking to add a Project Accountant to its growing accounting team.

The company is in an exciting period of growth, with a strong pipeline of work and several sister companies operating under the same umbrella. It's a great opportunity to join an established construction business while it's continuing to expand, add new projects, and invest in its internal teams.

This isn't a role where you'll be stuck behind the scenes crunching numbers. You'll work closely with Project Managers, Operations, and company leadership, giving you a strong understanding of how projects are performing and how the overall business operates.

Their portfolio includes a diverse mix of commercial, industrial, interior, and other construction projects throughout the Chicagoland area.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Handle project accounting from setup through final closeout
  • Track job costs, budgets, commitments, and project financials
  • Manage owner billings and subcontractor invoices
  • Assist with WIP reporting, forecasting, and month-end close
  • Partner directly with Project Managers on project financial performance
  • Maintain accurate project records and identify cost discrepancies
  • Support the accounting team as the company continues to grow

What They're Looking For:

  • 3+ years of Project Accounting / Construction Accounting experience
  • Previous construction or General Contractor experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of job costing, billing, and construction financials
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple projects
  • Someone looking for a stable, long-term opportunity with room to grow

Compensation & Benefits:

  • ๐Ÿ’ฐ $80Kโ€“$90K base salary + bonus potential
  • ๐ŸŒด Unlimited PTO โ€” employees are encouraged to take at least 15 days each year
  • ๐Ÿฅ Comprehensive health benefits
  • ๐Ÿ“ˆ Strong opportunity for long-term career progression
  • ๐Ÿ—๏ธ Growing organization with several sister companies and continued expansion ahead
  • ๐Ÿค Collaborative environment with direct exposure to Project Managers and leadership
  • ๐Ÿš€ Join during an exciting growth phase and have the opportunity to grow alongside the business

If you're a Project Accountant looking for a growing construction company where you can have more involvement in the projects and build a long-term career, I'd love to tell you more.
