Role Description The Mortgage Clerk is a part-time position provides support to the Director of Finance and the Family Services Manager in carrying out the responsibilities of the loan management. While the day-to-day duties will vary, the objective is to provide a stable, reliable, and consistent accounting foundation for the Habitat for Humanity of the River Valley team, Partner Families and Homeowners.
Qualifications
● Minimum 3 years’ experience with QuickBooks Online.
● Minimum 3 years’ experience in the Mortgage Industry.
● Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel.
● Strong attention to detail required.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
● Mortgage Servicing
o Accept and post payments from Homeowners
o Ensure payments are directly and appropriately allocated in The Mortgage Office.
o Support the Delinquency Team with tracking and reporting.
o Assist the Director of Finance with the following:
▪ Sending mortgage and escrow balance reports, including monthly delinquency letters.
▪ RESPA analysis when needed to ensure RESPA compliance.
▪ Closing documents and payments.
▪ Yearly Escrow analysis.
o Verify homeowner’s insurance and process payments to insurance agents.
o Process Property Tax payments yearly for affected homeowners.
o Work alongside outside mortgage servicing organization to support the homeowners they serve.
● Bookkeeping – QuickBooks Online
o Prepare deposits including mortgage payments, and insurance refunds.
● Accounts Payable
o Work with Finance Clerk to ensure payment of all escrow payables in a timely manner.
● Financial Reporting
o Reconcile pre-closing house costs and support the preparation of closing checks and related financial documents.
o Gather information as required and support Director of Finance in all audits.
o Prepare reports for Director of Finance and Affordable Housing Programs Manager as necessary.
● Office Management
o Maintain Escrow Payable hard copy as well as electronic files.
o Perform clerical duties as needed.
● Training
o The Mortgage Office (TMO)
o QLO Certification
