Job Summary
At Cardinal Health, Nuclear Pharmacists play a critical role in advancing diagnostic and therapeutic medicine. In this highly specialized position,you'llhelp ensure patients receive safe,accurate, andtimelyradiopharmaceuticals-supporting lifesaving decisions in hospitals and imaging centers every day. Schedule
- Rotating schedule including days, nights, weekends, holidays, andoncallcoverage
- Flexibility required to support business needs in a 24/7 environment
Responsibilities
- Provides pharmaceutical care to patients as a staff pharmacist, including compounding of nuclear medications, testing for quality through chromatography, and directing distribution of medication using a team of drivers.
- Assesses andmaintainspharmacy inventory and executes necessary orders, including reviews, tomaintainoptimalsupply and ongoing availability of drugs,identifyingandprocuringalternative drugs to mitigate risks, when necessary.
- Leads processes forhiring ofpharmacy staff, onboarding, and performance management, including leadership of competencyevaluationsprocess and documentation.
- Manages and directs internal workflows of nuclear pharmacy, including optimization of staffing and scheduling tomaintainbest-in-class and streamlined pharmacy operations.
- Assistsin execution of plans for lowering costs, increasingefficiencyand driving profitable growth to support strategic businessobjectivesin the nuclear pharmacy business.
- Maintains relationships with outside suppliers and vendors to understandavailabilityof drug components andassistin demand planning.
- Participates in administrative tasks tofacilitatenuclear pharmacy operations, including interactions with customers
- Performs other job-related duties asrequiredto ensure the goals andobjectivesof the department aremetincluding delivering doses if necessary.
- May oversee running of theOhiofacility (known as Pharmacist in Charge) if neededto cover licensure requirement to dispense in Ohio,Kentuckyand West Viriginia
- Provides potential emergency coverage in Kentucky and West Virginiaas needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacyor PharmDrequiredbystart date
- Valid Pharmacist's license in the state in which the pharmacyoperates, orisin the process of obtaininga valid licensepreferred. Will berequiredto also becomealicensedpharmacistinKentuckyandWestVirginiawithina yearof hire.
- 2-4 years of experience, preferred
- Working knowledge of biohazardous waste management procedurespreferred
- Abilitytotravelas needed for pharmacy coverage
- Willingness to travel to other pharmacies as needed to provide coverage
- Strong customer service skills
- Manual dexterityrequiredfor occasional reach, lifting, holding of small objects, and dispensing doses
- Comfortable working in a nuclear environment
- Must hold a valid driver's license
- Ability to work weekends, on call, holidays, overtime, alternate days/shifts, or be in a rotation
- Intermediate computer skills (ability to use computers and tablets)
- May require vendor credentialing
- Basicproficiencyin English isrequired, including being able to read and write in Englishin order toprocess documents.
- Prior Authorized User certification is preferred.Nuclear Pharmacy Training can be provided
Authorized User:As defined in part by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, an individual who has completed a minimum of700 hoursof training in a structured educational program consisting of both didactic training and supervised on the job training in radiation physics, instrumentation, radiation protection, chemistry, math and radiation biology. This is usually divided into two sections:200 hoursof formal course work and500 hoursof supervised experience. For current pharmacists, the requirements are the same plus a preceptor statement of training from an Authorized Nuclear Pharmacist.
Anticipated salary range:$104,300 - $149,100
