E&M Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Database Administrator - Oracle to join our team in Offutt AFB, NE in support of USSTRATCOM. USSTRATCOM is a combatant command with responsibilities that span strategic deterrence, nuclear operations, Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3), enterprise operations, Joint Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS) Operations (JEMSO), global strike, and missile threat assessment. Executing these responsibilities entails close alignment and collaboration with senior national and Department of Defense (DoD) leadership, functional and geographic combatant commands, defense agencies, and other elements of national power. Strategic deterrence is critical to the DoD’s integrated deterrence approach. USSTRATCOM’s ability to communicate is foundational to its mission and success, ensuring the safety and security of the United States (U.S.) and its allies, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (24x365).


Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain multiple Oracle home directories in a multiplatform environment.
  • Direct installs of the latest releases of Oracle DBMS Software, as necessary to solve problems or provide new capability.
  • Create and maintain Perl and UNIX shell scripts that monitor Oracle databases. Maintain the Perl tools that are used to implement the database architectures.
  • Verify daily, weekly, and archival backup integrity.
  • Run restores and ad-hoc backups as needed.
  • Work with management and system personnel to provide backup configuration.
  • Interface with System Administrators to ensure proper system configuration and disk space allocation for database use.
  • Responsible for specifying proper types of files organization, indexing methods, and security procedures.
  • Responsible for the planning and management of all technical and operational activities associated with database administration of Oracle databases and associated servers.
  • Understands the design of complex databases (e.g., schema and subschema details) so limitations/deficiencies can be identified.
  • Advise engineering group in database and supporting system architecture.
  • Define specialized aspects of user's database administrator documentation. Perform detailed comparisons of various database systems. Load new databases and support configuration of the databases as designed by downward directed programs. Configure physical database storage, sizing, backup, recovery, security and versions. Perform database tuning for optimal performance; supports production to include maintenance, requests for service and system configuration management.
  • Perform duties in a complex, distributed, heterogeneous computing environment, which may involve different types of hardware platforms, operating systems applications, and network environments.
  • Provide expertise in data storage systems. Develop backup and archival policies and procedures.
  • Configure storage systems software to meet requirements.
  • Perform administration tasks (installing, maintaining, monitoring, recovering, rebuilding, upgrading, patching and performance tuning).
  • Implement software solutions for performance enhancement, operator interface, and increased user capability. Ensure the databases incorporate the latest Cyber Command Security Technical Implementation Guides' (STIGs) processes and procedures to provide the most secure database possible.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10-16 years of relevant experience with MS/MA in computer science, Information Technology, Data Management, or a related field
  • ITIL V4 Foundations
  • Proficiency in Oracle, database design, data governance, and data warehousing principles.
  • Familiarity with data science tools and methodologies is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have and be capable of maintaining a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance at the required level.
