Opportunity Overview

Engineer, Nuclear Level 4 Lead

Your Day-to-Day

This position is for a Capital Projects Electrical Engineer. Engineers in this role provide technical interface with engineering firms on project development and prepare/review engineering documents using the applicable industry and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

You are knowledgeable concerning the applicable industry and nuclear standards. You should also be familiar with the nuclear industry standard design process, independent design verification, and several other important areas, including preparing standโ€‘alone electrical calculations, preparing procurement specifications, and 10CFR50.59.

  • Provide expertise with molded case circuit breakers and motor starters, thermal overloads, lowโ€‘voltage power breakers and switchgear, mediumโ€‘voltage power breakers and switchgear, industrial battery chargers, industrial inverters or UPS, and 125โ€ฏVdc battery systems. Provide knowledge of Emergency Diesel Generators (EDGs), large dryโ€‘type or oilโ€‘filled transformers, main generators, voltage regulators, etc.
  • Experience with ladder logic and electrical schematics is highly preferred but not required. Preferred experience with NSCA/safe shutdown analysis (Appendixโ€ฏR/NFPAโ€ฏ805) and proficiency in power systems analysis, including load flow, shortโ€‘circuit analysis, arc flash, and coordination studies. Familiarity with computational tools like ETAP, EDISON, and others is desirable.
  • Experience should be primarily in the power systems engineering area, not instrumentation & control or sensors/analog or digital electronics and cybersecurity.
  • At least 12โ€ฏyears of collective nuclear experience in U.S. nuclear power plants (exclude international experience).
  • Preference for candidates with prior experience as a cognizant/oversight engineer or in engineering project management; however, more design/project engineering than pure project management experience is desired.
  • Prepare or review/verify design output documents (design changes, calculations, specifications) developed internally.
Who You Are
  • Experience with NextEra Energy or Florida Power & Light nuclear power plants (Seabrook, Point Beach, St.โ€ฏLucie, Turkey Point) is highly preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required; Professional Engineer (PE) preferred, may substitute for degree.
  • 15+ years of nuclear engineering or related experience, with expertise in plant operations and engineering project management.
Benefits

We estimate the base salary range for this position to be $60/hour to $65/hour.
