Nuclear Operator Jobs in Ontario (NOW HIRING)

What will you be doing!

• Handling radioactive materials remotely in a shielded hot cell environment.
• Operating overhead cranes and hoists.
• Operating facility systems and recording and monitoring system readings.
• Responding to alarms and upset conditions.
• Carrying out other operational duties as required.
• Other duties as assigned by your manager.
  

What we are looking for:

• Education
  • Successful completion of secondary school (Grade 12).
  • Technical diploma is an asset.
• Experience
  • Direct experience in operations or an industrial work environment is an asset.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Manual dexterity and depth perception required to perform remote handling of radioactive materials inside a hot cell.
  • Ability to wear PPE&C; in particular, wearing a respirator will be required for some aspects of the job.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member.
  • Must possess good judgement and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to perform under stress when confronted with emergency, unusual, or hazardous conditions.
  • General knowledge of process, mechanical, and electrical system operations and maintenance practices.
• Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Level 2 Secret requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's "Standard on Security Screening" and the "Policy on Government Security."
    

Working Conditions:

• This position is part of the Power Workers Union Local 1000 and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in their Collective Agreement. As a member of this bargaining unit, you'll benefit from clear expectations around hours of work, wages, vacation, and other conditions that support a fair and consistent working environment.
• Working schedule: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week.
• Capable of handling the physical aspects of the position.
• Capable of wearing PPE required for all aspects of the position.
• Work in moderate-radiation-hazard environments where personal protective equipment is required.
• The environment demands high vigilance to alarms, lights, and signals as a safety requirement.
