About The Role Product Integration Lead

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

We are seeking a highly skilled Product Integration Lead to join our Fabrication team. The selected candidate will have the broad responsibility for directing product integration activities, ensuring seamless coordination across engineering, test, and operation functions to drive an optimized manufacturing flow and timely delivery to integration. While this role is an individual contributor position, the influence of the role is significant requiring both technical and personnel leadership to provide the high-level direction to the team to deliver the integrated vehicle.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage integrated product lifecycle throughout key stages in product development, production and maintenance.
  • Oversee operational tasking, deliverables, budget and schedule associated with manufacturing readiness and manufacturing maturation
  • Ensure a smooth transition from development into operations
  • Liaise and facilitate the efforts of a broad multi-functional group including design, manufacturing, and test engineering as well as supply chain and other operations teams to enable successful product integration.
  • Broad accountability to make informed decisions regarding operational changes and schedule to optimize manufacturing performance and meet project timelines.
  • Triage and provide engineering direction on off nominal and discrepant situations to optimize manufacturability and enable production to move forward.
  • Take ownership of vertical integration strategies across multiple products, including reporting progress and challenges to leadership, recovery planning and continuous improvement of execution.
  • Manage optimization activities to decrease unit lead time and cost to radically reduce the cost of access to space.
  • Mitigate risks and manage impacts to ensure project objectives are achieved.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to deliver the required verification artifacts at completion of build to successfully transfer the rocket into operational service.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. degree in aerospace, mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering; physics; or other major requiring engineering or manufacturing core courses
  • 5-7 years of experience in designing/developing/supporting complex engineered products.
  • 2+ years of project management or system integration experience.
  • Enjoy leading and participating in highly collaborative efforts and a desire to lead and manage small teams on a fast-paced hardware and flight projects
  • Demonstrated ability building trusting and effective working relationships that improve team performance and deliver results
  • Demonstrated experience with core project management skills including with logic-linked scheduling, budget and schedule variance tracking and reporting project status to leadership
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience with communicating with teams of varying sizes
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with budget and Cost Account Management such as EVM
  • Experience with risk management, configuration management, requirements management
  • Experience in developing program plans, budgets, and schedules
  • Knowledge of ERP, MRP, MES, PLM Systems; Knowledge of Proposal/BOE
  • Experience in engineering and production environments
  • Experience with human spaceflight or high-performance systems
  • EVMS and PMP Certified
  • Lean/ 6 Sigma Trained
  • Demonstrates reliability, flexibility, initiative and is a self-starter; has strong time management and organizational skills
  • Able to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
