Description
The Procurement Associate will support the Procurement Sr. Manager / Manager in managing sourced finished goods spend related to Newell's Home & Commercial business segment, supporting brands such as Oster, Mr. Coffee, Sunbeam, and Breville. The Associate will assist with new product development (NPD), analysis for key procurement deliverables such as supplier data for negotiations, quotation reviews, and project execution with the primary goal of driving productivity & other key procurement metrics. They will collaboratively work with the procurement organization and cross-functional teams towards personal and shared metrics.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the category manager in development and execution of sourcing strategies for designated commodities or product platforms that encompass the following:
    • Productivity - Develop projects and activity to deliver continuous cost improvement
    • Working capital improvements - Partner with suppliers to extend payment terms and minimize manufacturing lead time
    • Innovation - Act as a key liaison to facilitate supplier innovation concepts into cross functional development plans.
    • Geographic Risk Mitigation - Work cross functionally and with suppliers to diversify spend geographically with a goal to minimize tariff exposure
  • Responsible for supporting the category manager on commercial activities including:
    • Contract management
    • Project implementation
    • Quotation preparation and negotiation activities
    • Supporting regulatory compliance
    • Vendor and part data management within SAP
    • Supplier meetings
  • Responsible for the supplier identification, quoting process, negotiations, and supplier selection on NPD projects, with a focus on meeting the customer and business needs.
  • Routinely works with global cross-functional project teams: Marketing, Engineering, Supplier Quality, Supply Chain and Program Management to ensure that NPD projects are launched on-time, on-cost and on-specification.
  • Supplier and commodity spend management and productivity tracking
  • NPD project management for sourcing deliverables for NPD
  • Effectively communicate project updates, recommendations, and sourcing strategies on a frequent basis to NPD teams and Senior Leadership.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required. Supply Chain, Business, Industrial Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and project leadership skills
  • Strong external & internal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects to completion and demonstrate problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to travel
