Job description

Lead the Daily Build Where Care Happens
Superintendent - Healthcare
Why This Role Exists + What You'll Lead
Healthcare construction demands precision. Patients are receiving care while you build.
Clark's Alpena office is seeking a Superintendent to lead field execution on healthcare projects across Northern Michigan - from surgical suites to phased hospital renovations.
This role exists because infection control, regulatory compliance, and operational continuity cannot fail. You'll coordinate work inside occupied facilities where safety and discipline are non-negotiable.
Based in Alpena, serving healthcare clients across Northern Michigan - ideal candidates may live near Alpena, Traverse City, Petoskey, Gaylord, Cadillac, Cheboygan, or other surrounding areas..
What You'll Do
  • Lead daily execution in occupied healthcare facilities
  • Coordinate phasing around clinical operations
  • Enforce ICRA and infection control protocols
  • Manage trade sequencing and schedule adherence
  • Maintain documentation and daily reporting
  • Conduct weekly trade coordination meetings
  • Drive quality closeout and inspection readiness
  • Build strong relationships with facility operations teams

What Success Looks Like
In year one, you're delivering projects without disrupting patient care while maintaining strict compliance standards.
Over time, you're trusted with more complex clinical environments and mentoring field leaders in healthcare best practices.
What You'll Bring
  • 5+ years as a Superintendent
  • Healthcare construction experience preferred
  • Strong MEP coordination capability
  • Deep understanding of infection control and phased work
  • Disciplined leadership in 24/7 environments
  • Commitment to safety and operational awareness
  • Proficiency with Phoenix, ProjectSight, Bluebeam

What Makes Clark Different
We pair technical rigor with steady leadership. You'll have autonomy in the field, executive support behind you, and access to self-perform capabilities when complexity demands control.
And you'll build spaces that directly impact patient care.
Benefits + Culture
Clark offers profit sharing, generous PTO, 401(k) matching, and comprehensive health coverage. We support professional development and are a Certified Veteran Friendly Employer.
We are an Equal Employment Opportunity employer. Inclusion is part of how we build.
Ready to lead healthcare work that can't miss? Let's talk.
Background Check Notice
All employment offers are contingent upon the successful completion of a background check. This may include verification of employment history, education, and professional references, as well as criminal background or driving record checks, as permitted by law.
Results of the background check will be considered in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and Michigan law (MCL 37.2205a), which prohibits employers from asking about or making hiring decisions based solely on certain criminal records. A prior conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment; each situation will be reviewed individually based on job-related factors.
