Paragon Genomics, Inc. is a fast-growing life sciences company developing and commercializing breakthrough targeted sequencing solutions for next-generation sequencing (NGS).
We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Senior Manager/ Business Development Manager for the US West Coast territory. Based in the Bay Area, this individual will be responsible for driving significant revenue growth through direct sales, managing key accounts, and establishing strong distribution and strategic partnerships across the West Coast region. This role requires a blend of deep scientific understanding, exceptional commercial acumen, and strong cross-cultural relationship management.
A key focus of this role will be driving commercial growth in the U.S. precision oncology market, The successful candidate will lead sales efforts into hospital systems, academic medical centers, and clinical testing laboratories. This position will play a critical role in establishing Paragon's oncology footprint in the U.S. market, leveraging existing relationships and strategic collaborations to accelerate adoption. This position will report to the CEO.
Key Responsibilities:
U.S. Oncology & LDT Market Development
  • Drive sales in the U.S. market, primarily the West Coast, with a strong focus on precision oncology applications.
  • Identify and close opportunities with hospitals, academic medical centers, molecular pathology labs, and clinical testing laboratories.
  • Educate customers on the appropriate research-use-only positioning of Paragon Genomics' products within clinical testing workflows.
  • Develop and execute strategies to expand Paragon's presence in the U.S. oncology segment.
  • Collaborate with strategic partners to accelerate U.S. market entry and customer acquisition in oncology-focused LDT labs.
  • Gather market intelligence on competitive LDT oncology solutions and provide actionable feedback to leadership.

Commercial Strategy and Execution:
  • Develop and implement a strategic business development and sales plan aligned with the company's objectives.
  • Identify, prospect, and close high-value business opportunities.
  • Manage the entire sales cycle from lead generation and qualification to technical presentation, negotiation, and contract finalization.
  • Commitment to rigorous territory planning, quoting, market knowledge, both accurate and timely forecasting.
  • Identify and prioritize sales opportunities within high-complexity oncology research laboratories.

Technical & Strategic Leadership:
  • Serve as the technical resource during the sales process, articulating the scientific and clinical value proposition of our products to diverse audiences (scientists, lab directors, R&D leaders, CTOs, procurement).
  • Provide market feedback, competitive intelligence, and regulatory insight from the West Coast to inform internal R&D and product development pipelines.
  • Manage forecasting, pipeline reporting, and budget allocation for both territories.

Client Relationship Management:
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.

Qualifications and Background
  • Four-year degree in a relevant field (e.g., Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry). Advanced degree (MBA, MS, Ph.D.) preferred but not required.
  • Seven plus years of progressive sales, business development, or commercial experience within the Life Science Diagnostics industry.
  • Extensive knowledge in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) workflows, terminology, platforms, bioinformatics, and data reporting, especially target enrichment and library preparation.
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding multi-million-dollar sales targets on the West Coast.
  • Prior experience managing or significantly engaging with business partners or key accounts in this region is essential.
  • Proven success selling into hospital systems, molecular diagnostics labs, or clinical reference laboratories.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. LDT workflows, RUO regulatory boundaries, and clinical laboratory purchasing processes.
  • Must be able to work independently, manage complex sales cycles, and travel up to 25% of the time.
Preferred
  • Advanced degree (M.S., Ph.D., or M.B.A.) strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies, qPCR, or oncology diagnostics.
  • Experience working for a small, high-growth startup environment where responsibilities are broad and cross-functional.
  • Prior experience selling precision oncology or molecular oncology solutions into U.S. clinical or translational research labs.
  • Existing relationships within U.S. oncology-focused LDT laboratories or hospital-based molecular pathology groups.
