Location: On-site at our Westport, CT Center
We are currently recruiting for the 2026-2027 academic year, with anticipated start dates in August/September 2026.
All sessions take place at our center in Westport, CT. This is not a remote position. Candidates must be available to work Sundays, with additional weekday hours based on student scheduling needs.
Who We Are
At Freudigman & Billings, we believe students learn best in the context of supportive relationships. Our mission is to help young people better understand how they learn and empower them to take ownership of that learning process. We provide educational solutions for children and adolescents through individualized assessments, personalized learning plans, and one-on-one coaching.
What We Do
Educational Therapy provides individualized instruction and support for students experiencing learning challenges. While a subject tutor focuses primarily on teaching academic content, Educational Therapists apply specialized knowledge of learning differences and executive functioning challenges to address broader barriers affecting a student's academic performance and emotional well-being.
Our Educational Therapists work with students experiencing a wide range of learning profiles, including dyslexia, reading and writing challenges, nonverbal learning disabilities, ADHD, executive functioning deficits, and processing weaknesses. Sessions may include academic remediation, study skills coaching, organizational support, emotional regulation strategies, and mentorship depending on each student's needs.
We utilize students' day-to-day schoolwork as a vehicle for skill-building and self-awareness, helping students develop the resiliency, confidence, and strategies necessary for long-term success both inside and outside the classroom.
As an Educational Therapist, you'll work closely with students, families, and colleagues in a collaborative and highly supportive environment focused on meaningful, long-term growth.
Who You Are
You are intellectually curious about how students learn and motivated by the challenge of developing individualized educational plans. You are flexible, reflective, and open to feedback, recognizing that Educational Therapy is an evolving practice grounded in relationship-building, observation, and continuous learning.
You may come from a background in teaching, counseling, psychology, learning support, or a combination of educational and clinical settings. Most importantly, you are someone who can build trust with students while balancing academic support with emotional insight and mentorship.
The ideal candidate is warm, observant, organized, and capable of navigating both the academic and interpersonal aspects of student support. Strong communication skills, professional judgment, and confidence with high school-level math and science content are essential.
Why Work With Us?
Predictable Hours, One Location
All sessions take place at our 11,000-square-foot headquarters in Westport, CT. Our center is designed to be a welcoming and supportive environment where students can learn, connect, and grow. Educational Therapists are provided with dedicated workspace, whiteboards, and all materials needed for effective sessions.
Collaborative, Relationship-Driven Culture
Educational Therapists work closely with colleagues across departments to ensure students receive cohesive, individualized support. This is not transactional tutoring-it is long-term, relationship-centered educational work designed to make a lasting impact.
Professional Development
We invest heavily in training and mentorship. Our Directors provide ongoing supervision, case consultation, and instructional support to help Educational Therapists continue developing their expertise.
Full Administrative Support
Scheduling, billing, materials, and logistics are handled by our administrative team, allowing Educational Therapists to focus primarily on student support and instruction.
Competitive Pay
This is a part-time hourly position with compensation based on experience, education, and qualifications.
