Job description

HVAC Installation Support Technician

Tired of on-call rotations, after-hours service calls, and weekend work?

If you're an experienced HVAC installer or service technician who enjoys troubleshooting and solving problems but wants a better work-life balance, this could be the perfect role.

At Air Experts, we're looking for a skilled HVAC Installation Support Technician to diagnose and resolve issues on newly installed residential comfort systems. You'll work on high-end equipment, help ensure every installation meets our standards, and protect the reputation we've built serving the Triangle since 1986.

This is not a traditional service technician position. You'll focus on installation-related diagnostics, startup issues, warranty repairs, and customer satisfaction—without the constant demand of emergency service calls and on-call schedules.

Why Experienced Technicians Choose This Role

  • Monday–Friday schedule
  • No regular on-call rotation
  • Work with advanced HVAC systems and controls
  • Use your troubleshooting skills without running nonstop service calls
  • Company vehicle and gas card
  • Weekly pay
  • Year-round work
  • Ongoing factory and technical training
  • Opportunity to work closely with installation and leadership teams

Benefits

  • Competitive pay based on experience
  • Paid weekly on Friday
  • Company vehicle, phone, tablet, and hotspot
  • Medical insurance (2 plan options)
  • HSA with company contribution
  • Dental insurance – 100% company paid
  • Vision insurance – 100% company paid
  • Life insurance and AD&D – 100% company paid
  • Long-term disability – 100% company paid
  • Short-term disability
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Profit sharing
  • Paid holidays and PTO
  • Employee referral bonuses
  • Employee discounts
  • Paid training and certification opportunities

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose and resolve issues on newly installed HVAC systems
  • Troubleshoot communicating equipment, zoning systems, inverter technology, and ductless mini-split systems
  • Perform startup inspections and quality-control checks
  • Identify installation, airflow, refrigerant, electrical, controls, and performance issues
  • Work closely with installation teams to correct deficiencies and improve quality
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience during every visit
  • Clearly explain findings and solutions to homeowners
  • Document repairs and warranty work accurately

What We're Looking For

  • EPA 608 Certification (Universal preferred)
  • 5+ years of residential HVAC installation and/or service experience
  • Strong diagnostic ability with modern HVAC equipment
  • Experience with:
    • Communicating systems
    • Zone control systems
    • Variable-speed and inverter equipment
    • Ductless mini-splits
    • Heat pumps and gas furnace systems
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and troubleshoot controls
  • Professional appearance and strong customer communication skills
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record

The Ideal Candidate

You've spent years installing or servicing residential HVAC systems. You can walk into a home, quickly identify what's causing a performance issue, and confidently explain the solution to a homeowner.

You take pride in doing things right, care about customer satisfaction, and want a stable Monday–Friday position where your technical skills are respected and valued.

If that sounds like you, let's talk.
