Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable STEM Instructor to deliver engaging, hands-on learning experiences that inspire students to explore automotive engineering and motorsports technology. The instructor will lead interactive lessons and project-based activities that introduce students to the engineering principles behind race cars while fostering curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving.

The ideal candidate has a passion for STEM education and automotive engineering and can effectively translate complex engineering concepts into age-appropriate, engaging instruction.


Duties

  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons aligned with the Race Car Engineering Program curriculum.
  • Introduce students to the fundamentals of race car engineering, including aerodynamics, vehicle mechanics, safety systems, speed, motion, and engineering design.
  • Lead hands-on activities, experiments, and engineering challenges that encourage creativity, innovation, and critical thinking.
  • Demonstrate engineering concepts using real-world motorsports examples and applications.
  • Guide students through the engineering design process, encouraging brainstorming, testing, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
  • Foster teamwork, collaboration, and effective communication during individual and group projects.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation and curiosity.
  • Supervise students during classroom and laboratory activities while ensuring compliance with all safety procedures and program guidelines.
  • Assess student understanding through observation, discussions, project evaluations, and informal assessments, providing constructive feedback and encouragement.
  • Adapt instructional methods to accommodate varying learning styles, ages, and experience levels.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment before, during, and after each class.
  • Communicate professionally with program staff, parents, and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, or program needs when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with fellow instructors and program coordinators to enhance curriculum, share best practices, and improve the overall student experience.
  • Participate in instructor meetings, professional development opportunities, and program events as requested.
  • Stay current on developments in automotive engineering, motorsports technology, and STEM education to continually enhance instruction.


Skills

  • Experience with robotics, engineering competitions, Formula SAE, Baja SAE, or motorsports programs.
  • Experience with CAD software or engineering design tools.
  • Familiarity with automotive repair, fabrication, or vehicle maintenance.
  • Previous experience teaching STEM enrichment programs, camps, or after-school activities.
