Position Summary
PCCI is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This senior technical leadership role is designed for an accomplished software engineering professional who can architect, develop, and scale software platforms used across multiple clients, programs, and business domains.
The successful candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and a passion for innovation. You will influence technology direction, establish development frameworks and best practices, lead architecture decisions, and mentor engineering teams while delivering solutions that drive measurable value for both PCCI and its partners.
This role offers the opportunity to work on mission-driven technology initiatives that directly improve healthcare delivery and outcomes while helping shape the future of PCCI's technology ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
  • Architect, design, develop, and deliver enterprise-grade software platforms supporting multiple clients and business domains.
  • Lead architecture and design sessions for strategic programs and technology initiatives.
  • Establish software development frameworks, patterns, and engineering practices that improve quality, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions that address business challenges.
  • Serve as a technical leader and trusted advisor across engineering teams.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to senior engineers and development teams.
  • Promote enterprise architecture standards, design patterns, and engineering best practices across projects.
  • Drive software quality through technical reviews, testing strategies, and development governance.
  • Collaborate with product, business, and technology stakeholders to align technical solutions with organizational objectives.
  • Support the continuous evolution of PCCI's technology platforms and development processes.

Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as Cloud Architect or equivalent are highly desirable.

Experience
  • 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience.
  • 5+ years in senior technical leadership, architecture, or engineering leadership role.
  • Experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale applications and platforms.
  • Demonstrated success leading architecture initiatives across multiple systems and business domains.
  • Experience translating emerging technologies into practical business solutions.
  • Proven ability to influence technical direction and organizational engineering standards.

Technical Skills
  • Expertise in software architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise application design and scalable system architecture.
  • Experience with cloud-based architecture and modern software development practices.
  • Deep knowledge of software development, lifecycle methodologies and governance.
  • Ability to evaluate and implement emerging technologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and leadership capabilities.
