The Human Resources department plays a vital role in supporting the people, processes, and operations that contribute to the continued success of Deep South Crane & Rigging, LLC. We are seeking an HR Generalist to join our Corporate Office in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and provide support across a variety of Human Resources functions. This position is ideal for an organized and adaptable professional who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and contributing to the continued growth of the department.

Our corporate office is in Baton Rouge, LA, with other offices located in Luling, LA, Dequincy, LA, Lake Charles, LA, Beaumont, TX, Houston, TX, and Ashland, KY.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinate the day-to-day administration of company insurance claims, including auto liability, general liability, property, and other non-medical claims.
  • Assist the HR Manager with claim administration by gathering documentation, communicating with insurance carriers, adjusters, attorneys, and third-party administrators, and monitoring claim progress.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential claim files, ensuring documentation is complete, organized, and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Escalate significant claim developments, recommendations, and issues to the HR Manager and keep leadership informed throughout the claims process.
  • Maintain confidential HR and compliance records in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Occasionally assist the HR Manager with DataQ requests or reviewing Deep South's BASIC SMS score for accuracy.
  • Regularly research changes in HR compliance laws or applicable law changes that would affect HR functions
  • Assist with keeping the company compliant by responding to client questionnaires and/or audits as needed.
  • Work closely with other HR Representatives to manage the vehicle fleets cameras to ensure timely camera inspections and necessary maintenance or replacement.
  • Provide administrative support for Human Resources operations and assist with special projects as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Human Resources department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, or other closely related degree preferred. Strong HR experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in HR in the construction industry
  • Active Louisiana Notary Public Commission in good standing, preferred not required
  • Preferred experience with claims management or claims handling; specifically dealing with claims adjusters, outside counsel, third party administrators, etc
  • Basic knowledge of FMCSA DOT regulation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required, specifically Excel
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of HR principles
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and company information
  • Familiarity with contractor compliance, refinery requirements, and client prequalification systems is highly preferred.
  • Possesses a high degree of ownership and attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, project management and communication skills
  • Must be a team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment but also able to work independently to meet deadlines
