What is a non union rig welder?

A Non Union Rig Welder is a skilled tradesperson who specializes in welding on rigs, such as oil rigs, pipelines, or construction sites, without being affiliated with a labor union. They typically own their own welding rig, which includes a truck and necessary equipment, and work as independent contractors or for non-union companies. These welders are responsible for joining and repairing metal structures, often in demanding environments. Since they are not part of a union, they negotiate their own pay, benefits, and working conditions. This role requires strong welding skills, certifications, and experience with different metals and welding techniques.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a non union rig welder?

To thrive as a Non Union Rig Welder, you need advanced welding skills, a thorough understanding of blueprints, and physical stamina, often supported by relevant welding certifications such as AWS or ASME.
