Job Description

Director of Native American Studies 

Project Goals:

  • Tribal Liaison Bridging the gap with Tribal Programs/ Tribal Council
  • Appointed to the Impact Aide Committee Give monthly report to School Board
  • Supervise Title VII, Native Language Teachers, Cultural Activities 

Job Description:

Provide guidance and instruction for traditional skills.

  • Assembly's, Sweats, Stick games, Speaker, Story Telling
  • Cultural Project (drums, build a sweat, put up Tee-pee's, etc)
  • Cultural Feed
  • All Culture, brings in food from their culture.

Potential Teaching one class on Native Culture/Crafts

Can be utilized as a floating/substitute as needed.

Promote community and parental involvement by sponsoring and coordinating community based cultural activities (i.e. annual powwow, etc.)

Encourage strong home/school relationships through home visits, parental contact and community involvement opportunities. (Home visits reporting student attendance and grades).

Investigate prolonged student absences from school. Communicate with the Fr. Belknap attendance officer and building principal to help monitor and enforce compulsory attendance laws and to monitor the health and welfare of students.

Every Monday, Focus Meeting Planning School Activities for the week and month (School Calendar) 

Transport students in extreme emergency situations at the request of administration/ nurse.

Director of Native American Studies Is the direct Supervisor to the Title VII Coordinator, and Title VII Liaison. Evaluates the Title VII Coordinator and Liaison. Recommend and give advice to enhance the Language Department.
