Performance at this level requires a professional civil engineer, competent in conventional aspects of civil and traffic engineering. May coordinate the work of engineers, draftspersons, technicians, and others who assist in specific assignments.

Civil Engineer IV: The knowledge and expertise required for this level of work results from progressive experience. • Serves as a primary point of contact with the public, developers, consultants, and contractors, providing technical guidance and resolving complex project-related issues. Exercises independent judgment in planning, prioritizing, and completing assignments, analyzes technical information to develop practical solutions, and performs most work with minimal supervision.
