ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR – SOCIAL AND PSYCH SCIENCE MALCOLM X COLLEGE

Malcolm X College is currently seeking a non-union part-time Adjunct Instructor for Social and Pysch Science Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Design courses to meet learningoutcomes, and promote students’ active participation in their ownlearning.
  • Create an effective learning environment that fosters students’intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve usingdiscipline-specific thinking strategies.
  • Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensurethat classroom instruction leads to student learning and theattainment of the student learning outcomes for the course.
  • Help students reach their academic, personal and career goals andfoster a safe environment that respects the diversity of people andideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidencein every student’s ability to learn.
  • Contribute to and provide leadership in the student’s academicand professional communities and promote collaboration and teamworkamong members of these communities.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s Degree inSocial/Behavioral Sciences. Preference to Anthropology, Psychology,and Ethnic/Cultural Studies.
  • Knowledge of BlackboardLearning Management System, preferred
  • Excellent oral andwritten communication skills and ability to communicate withdiverse group of staff and students required
  • Experience with adiverse, multi-lingual student population is desired, as is acommitment to the open access mission of the communitycollege.
