Position Summary
The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world's preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, and has as its mission to discover, interpret, and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world, and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific research, education, and exhibition.
The Signature Experiences department is seeking a Manager of Signature Experiences to support and manage the planning, coordination, and execution of revenue-generating programs, including birthday parties, sleepovers, adult nights, and after-hours events. This role serves as a key operational leader during programs, ensuring staff are well-trained, events run smoothly, and guests receive an exceptional experience. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Signature Experiences, this position plays a hands-on role in both event preparation and on-the-ground management.
This position must be available to work on weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Coordinate on-site logistics for birthday parties, sleepovers, adult nights and after-hours events, ensuring smooth program operations.
  • Serve as the point of contact for staff and vendors during events, providing direction and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Manage and support the Signature Experiences Associate and frontline staff working signature experiences, ensuring they follow event protocols and provide excellent guest service.
  • Conduct training sessions on program logistics, customer service, and safety procedures.
  • Assist in tracking attendance, feedback, and program success metrics.
  • Support inventory management of event-related supplies and equipment.
  • Address guest concerns and respond to questions, ensuring an exceptional visitor experience.
  • Assist with event setup, breakdown, and transitions between program elements.
  • Ensure event spaces are clean, safe, and properly staged before and after each program.
  • Ensure compliance with Museum policies, safety regulations, and operational procedures.

The expected salary range for the Manager, Signature Experiences is $66,300/annual - $66,500/annual. The AMNH offers an extensive benefits package designed to meet the needs of our dedicated and diverse community.
Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization, and depth and scope of experience.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of management experience in customer service, events, or hospitality.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, hospitality, computer science, or another related field.

Physical Demands
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to move about the Museum campus.
