What You Will Do

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a F135 Engine Technician to serve as a member of our F135 Field Team supporting the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, MD.  The candidate will work in a team environment with Field Service Engineers, Engineering, and our customers to provide world-class maintenance and support.

Job Summary: 

Disassembling, inspecting, repairing, assembling, and testing (as required) Pratt & Whitney F135-PW-0100/600 gas turbine engines, modules, associated new technologies, and Rolls Royce LiftFan System.

F135 engine flightline inspection and maintenance activities on the F-35B/C Lighting II aircraft.

Routine maintenance of support equipment.

Find and utilize technical manuals for maintenance. 

Participate in and comply with the requirements of Customer Oriented Results and Excellence (CORE) Operating System and Environmental, Health, & Safety programs, training, and activities to meet company objectives/goals in support of the customer.

Able to work atop maintenance platforms, ascend/descend maintenance stands, lift 25 pounds to a height of 4 feet, and be able to position them self to perform maintenance/inspections underneath engine rails, inside the engine exhaust duct and aircraft inlet. Physically able to work with hands positioned overhead. 

Accuracy in work performed is a must. Individual must be able to adjust accordingly in a fast-paced team environment with changing/multiple priorities.

Ability to use computers and have familiarity with Microsoft Office and PDF software.

Ability to work overtime/holidays, any shift with adequate notice and support periodic travel requirements is necessary.

Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen and acquire a Secret security clearance.  Candidate must also pass a background check and any additional security checks by the U.S. government.

The shift hours are 2:00pm to 10:30pm , 2nd Shift. 

Qualifications You Must Have

Must have a High School diploma or GED.

Experience in the disassembly, inspection, and assembly of aircraft gas turbine engines.

Knowledge of how to interpret Safety Data Sheets and use of PPE. 

Qualifications We Prefer

FAA A&P License

Previous military experience in tear down/buildup of jet engines

Familiarity with flight line maintenance operations

Previous certification on engine borescope, engine blade blending, and test cell operation

Experience in Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen or similar methodologies
