Job description

Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital is a fully integrated, state-of-the-art medical campus that includes Diagnostic Centers, Outpatient Surgery and a 24-hour Emergency Department. Martin North Hospital is part of the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, a nonprofit, multispecialty, academic medical center that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education.

Martin North Hospital is looking to add a Registered Dietitian to its team of compassionate caregivers.The Registered Dietitian in this role will provide individualized medical nutrition therapy,education,and counseling to patients.Diagnosing andtreatingmalnutrition is essential for excellent patientcare,and the provision of MNT (Medical Nutrition Therapy) will allow patients to cope with multiple diagnosis, either new or chronic.Your role is essential in optimizing nutrition care for our patients and the patient experience as a whole.


A caregiver in this positionworks8 5-hour shifts per week from 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide direct patient care using medical nutrition therapy for an assigned patient population.
  • Provide counseling and education services topatientwith disease processes that require nutritional management.
  • Implement nutritional care plans, communicate plans,establisha follow-upsystemandmaintaindocumentation.
  • Write changes for diet orders,initiatenutrient intake assessments, assess patients for signs and symptoms of nutritional deficiencies, evaluateappropriate fluidand electrolytes, review laboratory and clinical progress notes, inform physicians of patients' nutritional status and need for changes in diet, enteral or parenteral feeding and develop care plans,documentationand reassessments.
  • Develop and contribute to Cleveland Clinic sponsored education programs for physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, students,peersand the public.
  • Create and revise education materials related to disease management through medical nutrition therapy.
  • Participate in program development designed to market and expand departmental services and revenue generation.
  • Market services to potential and current referral sources and develop and implement services in response to client's needs and wants.
  • Support the dietetic internship program as a supervised practice rotation preceptor and class instructor.
  • Complete reports for ongoing productivity tracking.
  • Participate in professional growth activities and attend and contribute to conferences and seminars on nutrition and related topics.
  • Conduct clinical research.
  • Comply withall regulatory organizations, including CMS, JCAO and ADA, and policies and procedures of the department and Cleveland Clinic.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or a closely related field
  • Maintain current licensure to practice Dietetics in the current state (LD)
  • Active certification as a Registered Dietitian (RD)
  • One year of experience as a Registered Dietitian in clinical nutrition OR successful completion of a Dietetic Internship Program

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Prior EPIC experience
  • Prior hospital experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to navigate extensively to provide services to a large number of patients throughout the hospital and manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer entry.
  • Must have physical ability to measure and weigh patients.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
