Job Description
This position is open to candidates in the Seattle area. You will have a hybrid remote/in-office schedule where you will work from our casual, pet-friendly office at least 3 days a week.
Trupanion is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Operations Analyst to join our Accounts Payable team. In this role, you will ensure that Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Procurement, and Commission processes are efficient, accurate, and aligned with financial reporting requirements. This role requires strong accounting knowledge, analytical problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate complex operational processes.
As the Finance Operations Analyst, you will lead process improvement initiatives across these functions, drive operational efficiencies, and support ongoing enhancements while facilitating recurring monthly and regulatory reporting. You will build strong relationships across the organization and contribute to the continued growth and success of a high-performing Finance team.
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure AP, AR, Procurement, and Commission processes are efficient, accurate, and aligned with GAAP requirements.
  • Calculate, validate, and process commissions accurately based on sales and business data.
  • Oversee AP, AR, and Commission system and process changes, ensuring proper testing and validation.
  • Analyze AP, AR, and Commissions data to support informed decision-making across the business.
  • Lead initiatives to implement a procurement function at Trupanion
  • Partner cross-functionally to identify process improvement opportunities and implement solutions that enhance efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations and support cash forecasting and analysis.

  • Strong accounting knowledge, including a solid understanding of AP, AR, Procurement, and related accounting principles
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to analyze financial data and translate insights into actionable recommendations

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing business needs, and meet deadlines
  • Understanding of 1099 and unclaimed property processes

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred
  • 3+ years of accounting or finance operations experience, including AP, AR, and Commission processes
  • Experience supporting 1099 processing, annual filings, and state reporting requirements, including Unclaimed Property, preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Experience with Workday or other ERP systems preferred

Additional Information
Compensation:
  • The base hourly range for this position is $33 - $38 on a full-time schedule.
  • Along with base compensation, Trupanion employees are currently eligible for monthly bonuses.
  • We want all employees to be invested in Trupanion's success, so we grant Restricted Stock Units to all new team members. Our new hire grants vest over 4 years.
